John Albert indigenous musician from the Kimberley, Western Australia

Singer/songwiter John Albert ‘s powerful lyrics and original voice deliver a unique Kimberley sound. John hailing from the Bardi people of the Dampier Peninsular and was the front man for nationally acclaimed Broome band ‘Scrap Metal’ now ‘Pigram Brothers’ who has gone on to greater heights in their own right.

John penned the huge successful ‘Broken Down Man’ which lifted ‘Scrap Metal’ to national acclaim and success and was one of the first Aboriginal bands that engaged in high quality sound, production and attitude to the music industry and a business. The former ‘Scrap Metal’ frontman says:

John Albert a highly regarded and respected singer/songwriter is finally re-emerging to performing live. John ‘s voice and stage presence gives the audience a great sense of freedom, love and appreciation for the Kimberley. He now plans a subtle return to his love of playing music and re-establishing himself as a prominent force as a Kimberley Artists. John feels the urge to go back on the road in a small way revitalising his love of his craft.

My music reflects the social issues of family, community and my Aboriginality. I am also aware of my environment, emotions and spirit which I have inherited through Aboriginal culture
